Keynote – Rise Together! at Washington State Nonprofit Conference

May 20, 2022 @ 9:00 am  –  10:15 am

A conversation with Chris Persons, Sili Savusa, Steven Knipp, Steve Daschle, K. Wyking Garrett, and Andrea Caupain Sanderson

Listen in as seasoned leaders of six well-known King County nonprofits get real about the stresses and joys of working on Rise Together, an ambitious $40 million collaborative capital campaign to build 400 new affordable homes in three Seattle-area neighborhoods alongside space for community programs, health and human services, and local minority-owned businesses. All the partner organizations involved are committed to improving equitable outcomes in affordable housing and community development. They serve diverse populations that include low-income children and families, LGBTQ seniors, Seattle’s pan-African diaspora, immigrant and refugee communities, and those facing other barriers to housing and opportunity caused by rampant structural racism. Over the past two years, Rise Together also had to weather the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic for each organization and all those whom they serve. The collaborative model of “rising together” that the group had developed over the years served them well in developing fresh strategies for uncertain times.
